Reporting and formalities

Support at the college

Getting a seat allotted is only part of the journey. Reporting to the college, verification, fee payment and formalities have their own deadlines and traps. We help the student and parents through these steps and, where needed, a counsellor goes with the student to the college.

Overview

Getting a seat allotted is only part of the journey. Reporting to the college, verification, fee payment and formalities have their own deadlines and traps. We help the student and parents through these steps and, where needed, a counsellor goes with the student to the college.

Who it is for

How it works, step by step

  1. 1Read the allotment letterWe read the allotment or provisional letter with you and note the reporting deadline, the documents listed and the fee to be paid. We explain the options under the rules of that counselling.
  2. 2Decide: accept, freeze or floatBefore reporting, we explain what each choice means in that round, including any deposit, upgrade possibility or penalty, so the decision is informed.
  3. 3Prepare the folderWe prepare a folder of originals and photocopies in the order verification usually follows, and check each against the college's own list.
  4. 4Plan the feeWe help you understand the exact fee, what is payable now and what later, and the mode of payment. We advise keeping every receipt and asking for the fee structure in writing.
  5. 5Report and complete verificationOn the day, we help the student through the reporting desk, document verification and any medical or other checks the college requires. A counsellor goes along where this has been agreed.
  6. 6Settle formalitiesWe help with the admission form, hostel and identity-card formalities, and with registering with any university or council where required.
  7. 7Settle inWe stay in touch in the first days, so that small problems about documents, fees or hostel are solved early.

What we check and consider

What you get

What to keep ready

How long it takes

The reporting window is fixed by the counselling authority and is usually short, so we ask families to contact us as soon as the allotment is published. Our support follows that window and the college's own schedule. All dates depend on the counselling calendar of the current year.

What we do not do

We are a counselling service. We do not guarantee any seat, college, branch or result. Always confirm dates, fees and rules on the official notice of the current year.

Questions answered

What if we cannot reach the college within the reporting time?

Contact the counselling authority and the college immediately and follow the instructions in the notice. Some authorities allow limited alternatives, others do not, so it is important not to wait.

Should we pay the full fee on the reporting day?

It depends on what the allotment letter and the college's fee structure say. Ask for the fee break-up and the refund terms in writing, and pay only through the official mode they specify.

Can a counsellor really come with us?

Where it is agreed in advance and practical, yes. A counsellor can help at the reporting desk and with the paperwork. Please speak to us early so we can plan.

What if a document is rejected at verification?

Ask exactly what is wrong and by when it can be corrected. We help you understand what the authority accepts and how to fix it within the time allowed. The decision rests with the verifying authority.

Can we leave the seat after reporting?

Rules on leaving a seat, refunds and penalties differ between counsellings and colleges. Read them before accepting, and we will go through them with you.

Is hostel compulsory?

This varies by college. Ask the college for its rules and charges in writing, and compare the cost with other choices.

Do you help families moving to another city?

We can share practical points about the process of reporting and settling in. For MBBS abroad, we also support parents during the years abroad. See the MBBS abroad journey.
