They are different systems
- BAMS: Ayurveda, rooted in classical Sanskrit texts
- BHMS: Homoeopathy, based on the principle of similars
- BUMS: Unani, rooted in Greco-Arabic medicine
Questions to ask yourself
- Which system genuinely interests me and fits my family's expectations?
- Which seats are available within my rank, category and state?
- Am I comfortable with the language of study (Sanskrit terms for BAMS, Urdu for many BUMS programmes)?
- What do I want after graduation: practice, postgraduation, government service, research?
Admission
All three use NEET-UG scores and AYUSH counselling, both central and state. Seat counts, fees and eligibility conditions differ and are published every year.
Scope of practice
What you can legally practise and prescribe depends on your degree and on rules that have changed over time. Check the current position with the relevant council before relying on any claim, including ours.
