Overview

GATE is a national test of your understanding of undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, architecture and some science subjects. Its score is used for admission to M.Tech and some PhD programmes, for financial assistance in many institutes, and by several public sector companies for recruitment. It is held once a year and the organising institute changes. A GATE score is valid for three years. Scoring well in GATE does not guarantee admission, scholarship or a job, since each institute or employer uses its own criteria.
