Questions to ask this university

  • The university lists an International Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Which exact programme and intake are you being offered, and in which language is each year taught?
  • The university also teaches other health fields. Is the programme offered to you the six-year medical doctor programme, and not a different course?
  • Is the English-medium programme for international students taught throughout, including the clinical years, and what language is used with patients in hospital? Ask for this in writing.
  • Will the internship of at least 12 months, which NMC requires in the same institution, be completed here, and how will the university certify it? In Georgia the final year of the six-year programme is described as including the internship, so ask exactly how this is structured.
  • Which institution awards the degree, and is the programme you are applying to the same one that appears in the World Directory of Medical Schools (https://www.wdoms.org) and in the latest NMC notices for your admission year?
  • What is the current authorisation or accreditation status of this programme with the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement in Georgia? Ask to see the document and its dates.
  • In which teaching hospitals or clinics will clinical training take place, are they owned by the university or only partners, and how far are they from the hostel?
  • Does the programme meet the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations on duration, English medium and a valid NEET UG qualification for your admission year? Read the current NMC notice yourself.
  • Which hostel or private accommodation, food, health insurance and city safety arrangements apply, and what do the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs currently advise? Read the advisories yourself.
